A radiant personality smiles beside a laptop, displaying one of her engaging online dance workout sessions, inspiring as she leads a group of aspiring fitness devotees.
The dance world meets fitness as the esteemed dance professional explains the genesis of her new, empowering, and fun-filled fitness program, DancePower. The classes, which she hosts in collaboration with MoveFitness, are a beautiful fusion of dance and fitness; they promise energy, fun, and a holistic fitness regimen.
“You absolutely do not need to have any prior dance experience to be part of MoveFitness’s DancePower classes,” she says, debunking the common misapprehension that dance fitness might be out of reach. The workouts stem from her personal regimen, intended to keep her dance-fit—with strength, nimbleness, and flexibility as the focus.
The six-week program incorporates ten high-octane workout sessions designed to cater to everyone from beginners to the more advanced. She is elated with the incredible feedback the program has received so far, emphasizing that participants not only enjoy the challenge but also appreciate the notable improvements in both their physical and mental health.
When questioned about her motivation to launch the DancePower workouts, she expresses her love for helping others and her firsthand experience of the joy physical fitness can bring. “There’s such satisfaction in knowing that I can aid others in feeling their best,” she admits, reflecting on the positive response she received from conducting live Pilates, yoga, and dance classes on her YouTube channel during lockdown.
Why Dance?
“Dance, by nature, is a comprehensive workout,” she insists. She recounts how beginners, after their first class, typically message her about the surprising physical exertion they’ve experienced, emphasising the deceivingly fun façade of dance fitness. From a tender age, we inherently move to music—it’s an instinctive, thrilling act that remains with us as we age.
Delving into her own mentality, our experienced trainer shares her secret to maintaining a positive mindset. Like anyone, she has her low moments. But, over time, she has realized the fruitlessness of self-induced pressure and the importance of genuine enjoyment in all activities. She stresses that lower stress levels translate to a happier life and this applies even to our fitness endeavors. She subscribes to exercises that she enjoys rather than following a mundane routine, remedying the dreaded treadmill run.
Fears and Failures: Breaking the Cycle
“If there’s a mantra that I swear by, it’s this—”you’ll never know unless you give it a go”. I’m not afraid of a challenge, even when I’m unsure or nervous about the outcome,” she asserts, encouraging us to step out of our comfort zones. In her view, trying and ‘failing’ is not actual failure—it’s just a preparation for succeeding the next time around. Truly, the genuine victory is in the courage of attempting.
