Read on to discover her top training tips, secrets to her success, and an encouraging mantra for those contemplating the triathlon challenge.

The Triathlon Appeal

“Triathlon is not a one-size-fits-all kind of sport. Whether you shine in the pool, soar on a bike, or sprint with grace, it offers avenues for everyone,” says our champion. Emphasizing the sport’s inclusive nature, she encourages athletes of varied capabilities to give triathlons a shot. “Repetitive routines are least of your worries in this field. You constantly have the opportunity to challenge yourself and set new goals.”. The sense of camaraderie and respect between all participants, irrespective of their triathlon journey, is another aspect that our champion highlights.

Honing Your Cardio

“Creating a balanced training regimen for each discipline is a challenging but rewarding ordeal,” our athlete admits. She shares that her training hours per week oscillate between 20 and 30, entailing swim sessions, daily rides, and regular runs, diversified in terms of intensity. She jestingly adds, “Evenings are an elusive concept for me.”

Building Strength

With exercise regimes as intense as a triathlete’s, it’s inevitable that strength training forms a crucial aspect of their routine. Our athlete emphasizes the importance of developing core stability for enhancing performance across the board. “Practicing planks, side planks, and V-sits are some of my go-to exercises,” she states while explaining the necessity of glute strength for cycling and running, and shoulder stability during swimming.

Recovery and Relaxation

Recovery encompasses more than just taking the occasional day off. It involves replenishing depleted energy sources quickly after a workout, a habit made easier by meal-preparation, and regular physiotherapy sessions to keep the body in top condition. When she actually gets a day off, the champion enjoys spending time outdoors with her furry companion, which she finds has real mental benefits.

Nutrition Matters

Our champion athlete hasn’t just made significant strides in fitness but also regarding her diet. A meticulously done food intolerance test unveiled a host of foods she was intolerant to, including dairy and whey protein. Post-elimination, she testifies to feeling healthier, leaner, and significantly more efficient during her races.

Training Tools

Our triathlon champion acknowledges the role technology has played in her training regime. “Using interactive platforms like Zwift for indoor training has made things much more fun, sociable, and efficient,” she remarks. Furthermore, she mentions the occasional indulgence in her sponsor’s energy drink for that extra bit of oomph during key workouts.

Whether you’re a budding runner, a cycling enthusiast, or a swimming champ, her journey illustrates that triathlon offers an inclusive, challenging, and motive platform to drive your athletic passions.
